National Foster Care Month
May is National Foster Care Month! That makes it the perfect month to hold one of your events or fundraisers, combining extra awareness with your fundraising efforts. For more information on the month itself, you can go to www.childwelfare.gov. But, if you’re looking for a way to celebrate the occasion and support CASA of NJ, look no further!
Wear Blue Day
A Wear Blue Day is a way to raise money while also giving people a break from their everyday professional attire. This is good for places of work, private schools, or anywhere that has a dress code. All that you need to do is have everyone who would like to take a break from the dress code donate a designated amount of money (around $5-$20), and they can wear blue jeans and a blue t-shirt on a certain date. This is great for National Foster Care Month, because the month’s special color is blue, and it gives everyone a nice break from having to worry about dressing professionally.
Since there’s not a lot of prep required for this, here’s just a couple of tips to make the day even better:
- Hand out blue ribbons to everyone who participates (you can also sell some to anyone who chose not to wear blue but still wants to support the cause)
- Have a competition to see who can wear the most blue (count things like hats, sunglasses, socks, etc. along with jeans and shirts)
- Take a company/class/etc. picture to share and show your support
